A DJ Trivia Story: Lemon Squeezy
We recently invited players to share their DJ Trivia Story with us. Thank you to Jill from Lemon Squeezy for telling us the story of her team and one of their most memorable moments ever!
The Story of Lemon Squeezy According to Jill…
My name is Jill & I’ve been doing DJ trivia in Reno for a few years now. Originally my friend invited me to her groups team (Oh Damn!) at Beer NV. I’d never been there but quickly became a fan of the trivia & the bar. Mia was our host & though we didn’t win often we always had a blast.
More recently I started up a different team at Piñon in Sparks on Thursday nights. Team Lemon Squeezy did quite well at Piñon. Placed a few times. After winning 1st place a couple weeks in a row, we gained some momentum. Somehow we made it to the playoff game, fully expecting not to qualify for championships.
Before the last double down dare Lemon Squeezy was in first place. As the seconds counted down, more teams submitted answers so we put in a guess. Turns out every single team that night got the last double down dare wrong. There was a tiebreaker question with several teams for placement. And though our submission to that tiebreaker question was a complete guess, it was the closest to the answer & Lemon Squeezy won first place in playoffs with 0 points.
Maybe it’s silly, but I made a core memory that night. Watching the score board slowly reveal itself till we saw our name at the top. Jumping into each other’s arms & actually chanting our teams name. We had all fully expected to lose & did! But still won. It was the most exciting game of trivia I’ve ever played. I value my weekly trivia night with my friends (we are now the Team Formerly Known as Lemon Squeezy). It’s a break in the monotony of streaming tv every night before falling asleep on the couch. We get to learn things. And learn what our friends know. All while supporting a local business. Lemon Squeezy finished the spring championship game with 0 points but I didn’t care. That playoff game will stay with me a long time. I have DJ Trivia to thank for that. Thank you
